Markwell’s Auto Group was formed in August 2004 following the successful acquisition of Rigby Motors Mildura.

Commencing way back then with a small team of 19 staff, the group is proud today to be employing over 50 local staff.

In 2005 the group began the separation of the franchise brands into separate purpose built facilities, which saw our Sunraysia Prestige BMW dealership officially open in June 2005 and our Mazda dealership in November 2006.

2006 also saw the installation of our state of the art fully automated “soft touch” carwash which is extremely kind to our precious environment, recycling over 85% of the water it uses.

Since 2006 the carwash has washed over 38,000 vehicles, keeping our customers smiling when we return their car following vehicle servicing. 

2007 saw the redevelopment of the Toyota dealership and later that year the inclusion of our Hino truck brand.

2009 included the construction of our offsite purpose built 120 car storage facility conveniently located just 500 metres from the main dealership sites.

And finally in late 2010 the group proudly opened its large offsite Pre Delivery Centre again conveniently located just 250 metres away.

Overall, the group has invested in excess of $7 million since 2004 in property acquisitions, improved staff conditions, new dealerships and facilities that have enabled the company to continue to produce remarkable year on year growth results.

During this time the group has won many prestigious awards including 2007, 2008 and 2009 BMW Dealer Trophy, the 2008 and 2010 Toyota Dealer of the Year award and most notably the 2010 Toyota Presidents Award for Excellence.

Markwell’s Auto Group is most definitely a family owned business with Dealer Principal Rod Markwell, his wife Donna and two daughters Hayley and Danielle both delighted and proud to call Mildura and the Sunraysia region their home.

A community oriented business the group has also happily contributed many hundreds of thousands of dollars into the local community including our associations with Mildura Thoroughbred Racing Club, Chances for Children, Opera on the Lock, Mildura Bowls Club, jumpers for local footy and netball clubs and more recently the Mildura Basketball Association.

Both Rod and Donna Markwell believe it of utmost importance to reinvest in our local community and of further importance believe that the company’s charter should be based around providing better sporting facilities and conditions for our local kids.
